Butterhill Day School

Day School: infant - kindergarden, After-School 1st - 8th grade. Butterhill Day School is designed to supplement the love, affection, plus the teaching and playing that a child receives at home. Our goal is always to contribute to the happy, healthy development of the child and the well being of the family. At Butterhill we believe, the children are our future. Every child has a special gift and the potential to be what they want to be. We also acknowledge some children may have difficulties. Cornwall Central School District

The Cornwall Central School District (CSD) is committed to working together with the community to provide a secure and nurturing environment of diverse learning opportunities for its students. Not only is CSD highest in student achievement in Orange County, the district is lowest in student cost per pupil for seven consecutive years. The district supports students in the three A’s- Academics, Athletics and the Arts and is currently transitioning to STEAM programs orientation. STEM education refers to the areas of science, technology, engineering and mathematics. STEAM education incorporates the “A” for the arts – recognizing that to be successful in technical fields, individuals must also be creative and use critical thinking skills which are best developed through exposure to the arts. Cornwall Athletics

The Cornwall community strongly believes that extra-curricular activities and sports provide a positive effect on academic performance. Additionally, the sports programs provide a strong bonding experience within the community. The Cornwall athletic programs include Running/Cross Country, Volleyball, Basketball, Baseball, Football, Swimming and Chess and have won the following awards: • Girls Cross Country – 18 consecutive OCIAA Division III Championships, 16 consecutive Section IX Championships • Girls Volleyball – 12 consecutive OCIAA Division III Championships, 12 consecutive Section IX Championships • Girls Basketball – 13 consecutive OCIAA Division III Championships · Football – 4 consecutive OCIAA Division III Championships, 6 consecutive Section IX Championships, 12 of 14 years Section IX Championships, since 2003 • Boys Tennis – 50 consecutive wins (Most in CCHS History)

Cornwall Elementary School

Cornwall Elementary School is the largest of the three elementary schools in the district educating approximately 530 students in Kindergarten - Grade 4. Students are challenged academically every day by an exceptional and dedicated faculty and staff. Ranking in the NYS ELA and Math Exams for 3rd and 4th graders is at the top county-wide. This is a shared ranking between all Cornwall elementary schools. Children are educated in ELA, Math, Science and Social Studies according to the NYS Standards. Cornwall is very fortunate to have support for children who need extra help in ELA and/or Math. The focus is on the well-rounded child in Cornwall. All children at CES are given the opportunity to perform in the annual Drama Production, which is always a favorite for everyone! Students in Grade 4 participate in Chorus and also have the option to participate in either Orchestra or Band. Depending on the grade level students are also offered Music, Library or Art Enrichment. CES teachers are dedicated to supporting student growth in the areas of STEM and STEAM. Children at CES also have two blocked out periods for Recess daily and Physical Education every other day. CES Character Education Program is a major focus and kicks off each month with a new character trait during SPIRIT Assembly! It’s very important to CES staff and faculty that your children are well educated, happy children who leave with a sense of doing right to make our community that much better. Cornwall Central Middle School

Cornwall Central Middle School is a 5th through 8th grade middle school occupying the building formerly known as the Cornwall Central High School. CCMS has created smaller learning communities in the building in four grade-specific wings to accomodate the 1,050 students. Teachers at each grade level are teamed and share a common group of students. Curriculum is aligned with the NYS Learning Standards. Acceleration in mathematics and science begins in 7th grade. Academic Intervention Services are available at all grade levels. In addition to general music studies, students can join one of several bands, string ensemble, and chorus. Balancing academics with co-curricular activities is important to the social, physical and emotional development of young adolescents. CCMS encourages students to join one or more of our many clubs or sports teams. GreatSchools.com rates CCMS as an overall 7/10, but a 9/10 for test scores.

Cornwall Central High School

Cornwall Central High School serves all of Cornwall and portions of New Windsor and Highland Mills. With approximately 1100 students in grades 9-12, it is consistently ranked as the top high school in a three county area. The school not only offers a strong academic program, but has a thriving athletic and arts program. GreatSchools.org rates CCHS 9/10 and notes "This school is far above the state average in key measures of college and career readiness."

The Storm King School is a highly selective, independent, coeducational boarding and day school, ranked among the top 30 boarding schools in the US. The School was established in 1867. New York Military Academy [NYMA]

Cornwall Public Library

The Cornwall Public Library houses a collection of close to 195,000 items that includes hardcover books, paperbacks, ebooks, audio books, DVDs, and music CDs. There are over 8,800 registered borrowers, it receives over 151,000 annual visits, and is open 7 days a week. The Library has 8 public computers, 2 children’s learning stations, a laptop/iPad lab for training and in-house borrowing, and a children’s early literacy mini iPad lab with 10 mini iPads for use by pre-schoolers through teens. There is a diverse offering of programs for people of all ages and interests that draw more than 8,300 attendees annually. The Library serves as a Community Center for residents of the Cornwall Central School District and beyond, and strives continually to meet the needs and requests of the Greater Cornwall Community.

Hudson Highlands Nature Museum

Hudson Highlands Nature Museum has been a Cornwall attraction for decades, and has grown into a leading provider of nature education experiences in the Hudson Valley. Its mission is to develop responsible caretakers of the natural world through its special focus on Environmental Education. It uses its living collections of native animals, natural habitats and trails to present a wide variety of programs for people of all ages at its two locations. The Wildlife Education Center located at 25 Boulevard,Cornwall-on-Hudson is the home of many animals that can be found in our local woods, fields, ponds and rivers including, rabbits, turtles,frogs, toads, salamanders, snakes and fish, as well as a screech owl,a great horned owl, and of course the crowd favorite, Edgar, our resident crow that says "hello!" Stop in Fridays-Sundays from 12pm-4pm for special "Meet the Animals" events Saturdays and Sundays at 1pm and 2:30pm year-round. Visitors can also enjoy the interactive *"Birds on the Wing" exhibit and read their way along the StoryWalk® trail The Outdoor Discovery Center nature preserve, located on Muser Drive,across from 174 Angola Road, Cornwall has miles of great hiking trails winding through woods and fields, overlooking scenic wetlands home to many native animals including a Great Blue Heron. Stop in the Gift Shop or Grasshopper Grove, on Saturdays and Sundays (mid-April through mid-November) 10am-4pm, where parents can re-discover the wonders of nature play with their small children.
